What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a Chinese-based health care system to help improve health and well-being. The technique of acupuncture involves the insertion of fine sterile disposable acupuncture needles into designated acupuncture points on the body, allowing the appropriate flow of blood and qi (energy), restoring balance and improving function in the body, and relieving pain. It is based on Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) Theory. The needles used are much finer than those used for injections in western medicine.

What can ear acupuncture help with?

Ear acupuncture is useful for rebalancing the body’s energy system, which can help reduce a range of symptoms including hot flushes and night sweats, insomnia, anxiety, depression.
It is an opportunity to give yourself time to care for your health and well-being.

What happens in an ear acupuncture group?

Ear acupuncture is run as a weekly drop-in group at all Havens. During the group, the acupuncturist inserts 5 tiny acupuncture needles into the outer ears of each person. The needles are in place for a minimum of 30 minutes during which time you are able to relax deeply into a meditative state. This whole experience will leave you feeling more grounded, refreshed, relaxed and clear.
