The National Three Peaks challenge means climbing Ben Nevis (1344m), driving to the lake District, climbing Scafell (978m) and then driving to Snowdonia to climb Snowdon (1085m)
Matthew Hamar and 5 friends managed to complete the challenge in 23 and a quarter hours. Their walking times (up and down) were 4 and a half hours for Ben Nevis (this included a 20 minute stop on top), 3 and a quarter hours for Scafell and 2 and three quarter hours for Snowdon. Their two dedicated drivers did them proud as they had to do a additional one hour diversion in the highlands and managed to miss a stag (the wild animal kind) jumping out at them in the early hours.
They were all raising money for individual charities and Matthew chose to support Breast Cancer Haven because his mum would have benefitted from the support on offer and both his sister and brother in law (who are the dedicated drivers for the trip) found the centre to be of great help through a difficult time.
You can still sponsor Matthew online by clicking here.
