The Musical Journey from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee to The Pyramid Stage of Glastonbury

In aid of Breast Cancer Haven and Autism Unseen

Thursday 30th November - BPP University Leeds

This acclaimed show, that has travelled the world, is performed by the extremely talented Miss Julia Martin, and pays tribute to the musical journey from rags to rhinestones of the undisputed queen of country music 'Dolly Parton'.

In 2014 with a record live audience of 200,000 and a BBC audience of 2.6 million, Dolly Parton became the Queen of Glastonbury, and a whole new generation of Dolly fans was born. In celebration to this performance, Julia takes the audience from Dolly’s humble beginnings in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, to the superstar that she is today, combining Dolly’s classic hit songs with songs from the Glastonbury show.

So if you missed Dolly’s epic sublime concert from the Pyramid Stage, then this is your chance to experience it. Julia quite simply redefines the word crowdpleaser, with a 90-minute performance of scintillating music, entertainment and banter.

Wearing a white rhinestone studded trouser suit; Julia struts across the stage, every inch Dolly, cheering, hollering and foot stomping, with the enraptured audience in the palm of her hand. Clap-along, sing-along, and dancing in the isles is the order of the day, it is quite simply ‘Glastonbury Magic’, but without the mud.

A number of unique trademark features within this show are what elevates it to a must-see production. Julia makes this show her own, catapulting it to the top of the Dolly Parton tribute list, where it sits alongside some of the world’s greatest Dolly performers. It is also the UK’s only touring theatre show that will allow you to experience Dolly’s Glastonbury performance. Attention to detail, careful research and a commitment to accurately portray Dolly both vocally and visually is what makes this show so special. Julia becomes Dolly in every way, wig, make-up, fingernails, sequined costumes and of course the famous red lip-stick.

Audience engagement is also guaranteed; with Julia handing out tambourines and cowboy hats, without even missing a beat from the songs that she is performing. A tribute show is not simply about looking like someone, you have to become that person, you have to be able to step onto stage, capture the audience, and sell the illusion, and Julia does that in abundance.
