What's on Fundraising events Frankie's Big Dreams Garden Throughout the summer of 2015, in tribute to her sister, Frankie Devereux transformed her garden with the help of Monty Don, his Big Dreams, Small Spaces programme, friends, neighbours, a disapproving Mother and Rebus, a small Jack Russell. The programme was broadcast on BBC2 on 25th February. One of Frankie's helpers was neighbour Babs Micheson who dug up many of her own plants, delivered and planted them, colour coded and labeled the day before Monty's final visit. Although happy to down her trowel, Babs persuaded Frankie to celebrate the achievement by joining forces and opening both their gardens to raise funds for The Hereford Haven. Frankie's sister, Jane fundraised for The Haven before her tragic death in 2010 and this seemed a positive legacy in memory of a much loved sister. Barbara Gibson, another Bodenham gardener has joined forces which means three very different gardens can be viewed on the same day. The gardens will open Saturday 4th June 10-4 and Sunday 5th June 12 - 5. Admittance for all £5 Millcroft Farm is a 5 acre small holding in the village of Bodenham in north Herefordshire. It was originally built in 1658 with further additions. In 2002 it was taken apart beam by beam and rebuilt. It is an “almost” self sufficient small holding with sheep, chickens and honey bees and a two acre orchard. The garden is new from 2007 and is based around a croquet lawn with rose and herbaceous borders. There is a “fruit roundel”, brassica cage and raised vegetable beds. The orchard has many dual specie cider trees, some dating over 100 years old as well as a number of new variety desert and culinary apple trees. These are used to make cider each year. There is one very old and very big perry pear tree. The hedges are abundant and elderflower champagne and cordial is also made. Refreshments and homemade cakes will be available as well as plant and honey stalls for all those visiting. There is plenty of parking for all at Millcroft Farm and limited on street parking at Frankies therefore please only use this for disabled drivers. Booking for this event has now closed.
