Getting Savvy: Breast Cancer and Working “Breast Cancer and…” is a webinar series brought to you by Breast Cancer Haven. With over 20 years of experience supporting people affected by breast cancer we now take this opportunity to look in more depth at some of the things that matter most to you. These informal, informative panel discussions bring together Breast Cancer Haven staff and therapists with leading experts from specialist fields. We provide information and insight into the financial, physical, emotional and psychological factors that may affect your life. This webinar covers an important topic that can sometimes feel so big that it is hard to know where to start: that is breast cancer and paid employment. This webinar delivers a frank, honest and friendly discussion covering a range of issues including: What, legally, does having breast cancer mean? Some tips on how to start having conversations with your manager, colleagues and clients. The reality of returning to work from both a physical and emotional standpoint. Normalising the challenges that may come with reassessing your work/life balance and career choices. The panel includes experts from the fields of law, occupational health, physiotherapy and life-work coaching. They are: Jackie Cuneen - Jackie is a solicitor specialising in employment law, qualifying in 1998. She has been a partner in Employment with Machins Solicitors since 2013 and regularly speaks to businesses on employment issues. Jackie has been a long-time supporter of Breast Cancer Haven and has regularly run our “Cancer in the Workplace” workshops. Nicola Cunningham – Nic is a qualified physiotherapist, manages Breast Cancer Haven’s service delivery and works closely with visitors and therapists to ensure everyone’s treatment programme leads to the best-personalised outcome. Marjorie Greasley - Marjorie is a Consultant Occupational Physician at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in central London. Marjorie has a special interest in getting people back to work following a cancer diagnosis, and aims to equip them with the practical and emotional tools to do so. Fiona McGeever - Fiona comes from a business development background, and is currently works for Irish in Britain in Partnerships and Engagement. She has been a visitor of Breast Cancer Haven, and, through personal experience, has become passionate not only about breast cancer awareness, but also about creating better support and clarity for those with cancer in the workplace. Eve Warren - Eve has 25 years’ experience as an executive and life-work coach, helping clients achieve changes for the better, and with particular expertise in supporting women’s working lives. In addition to her own practice, she has worked with Breast Cancer Haven delivering workshops and seminars on Wellbeing & Resilience and Change & Transition. Eve also developed the pioneering Living Well Moving On course for those returning to work and life after cancer treatment.
