These introductory days are free of charge and are run by our nurse specialists at all our our Havens throughout the year. 

Here is a sample of what might be included in the day...

9.00am Welcome and refreshments

9.15am Introduction to the Haven
Tina Glynn, Haven Programme Manager will introduce the day and give an overview of what The Haven programme can offer your patients. Sonia Peart, Cancer Information Manager and Dr Edem Onofeghara, welfare benefits and money adviser will introduce themselves and discuss their role at The Haven

10.00am Medical Herbs and Breast Cancer
Alex Laird, Medical Herbalist will discuss common problems experienced by people affected by breast cancer including side effects of cancer treatment and the herbal and food medicine approaches that can alleviate them.

11.30am Refreshment break
Library

12.00pm Emotional Support for People affected by breast cancer
Joan Healy, Counsellor will discuss the importance of providing emotional support to people affected by breast cancer.

1.00pm Lunch
in the café, basement level. We charge £4 for a healthy haven lunch in our cafe, or you can buy your lunch from nearby shops.

1.45pm Healthier Eating
The area of diet and nutrition in cancer is often confusing and there is a lot of conflicting advice from various sources. Julie Webb, Nutritional Therapist will lead a discussion on healthier eating.

3.00pm Mindfulness
Dr Caroline Hoffman, Clinical Director offers you the chance to experience mindfulness and explore how it might benefit your patients.

3.50pm Q and A and Evaluations
