Lymphoedema Awareness: Reducing Your Risk (London) Lymphoedema in breast cancer is swelling of the arm, hand or breast area caused by a build-up of lymph fluid in the surface tissues of the body. This can occur as a result of damage to the lymphatic system due to surgery and/or radiotherapy. This class is for anyone who has had surgery and/or radiotherapy for breast cancer. We will discuss what lymphoedema is, how to minimise your risks of developing lymphoedema and we will practice a series of arm exercises which can help to reduce your risks and may also relieve pain and swelling for those who are affected by lymphodema. Please wear loose comfotable clothes and flat shoes. Anyone affected by lymphoedema and attending this session are advised to wear compression sleeves. This session is provided free of charge, but any donations are always welcomed.
