What's on Weekly classes in Yorkshire Welcome day for new Visitors, Leeds On this informal and relaxed day, you will learn all about what The Haven can offer, what emotional support, therapies, classes and seminars are available and how we can support you throughout your medical treatment and afterwards.You will meet other women all of who will have been affected by breast cancer. They could be at any stage of treatment or even post-treatment and this is a good opportunity to share stories, ask questions or just sit quietly and listen.Our Introduction day runs from 10 to 3.45 and is led by Debra Horsman our Haven Programme Manager, who before joining The Haven had a long career as a breast care nurse. A typical Introduction Day will include the following: 10.00 Welcome and introduction10.15 Personal introductions11.15 Refreshment Break11.30 Discussion group for family and friends, a separate discussion group about supporting someone with breast cancer12.00 Principles of good nutrition, with Morna Murphy, Nutritional Therapist12.30 Creating a healthier environment13.00 Lunch14.00 The afternoon will include a selection of the following sessions and will include a refreshment break Learning how to use simple EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to help alleviate emotional and physical symptoms and increase peace and wellbeing. Restoring harmony and balance to the body. The value of breathing and gentle movement exercises to return us to calm and focus in everyday life. Learning to live in the present moment. Using the imagination, affirmations and visualisations to assist in the healing process.
