On this informal and relaxed day, you will learn all about what Breast Cancer Haven can offer, what emotional support, therapies, classes and seminars are available and how we can support you throughout your medical treatment and afterwards.

You will meet other women all of who will have been affected by breast cancer. They could be at any stage of treatment or even post-treatment and this is a good opportunity to share stories, ask questions or just sit quietly and listen.

Our Welcome Day runs from 10 to 3.45 and is led by Debra Horsman our Breast Cancer Haven Programme Manager, who before joining us had a long career as a breast care nurse.

A typical Welcome Day will include the following:

10.15     Personal introductions
11.15     Refreshment Break
11.30     Discussion group for family and friends, a separate discussion group about supporting someone with breast cancer
12.00     Principles of good nutrition, with Sarah Hughes, Nutritional Therapist
12.30     Creating a healthier environment
13.00     Lunch
14.00     The afternoon will include a selection of the following sessions and will include a refreshment break

  • Learning how to use simple EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to help alleviate emotional and physical symptoms and increase peace and wellbeing.
  • Restoring harmony and balance to the body.
  • The value of breathing and gentle movement exercises to return us to calm and focus in everyday life. Learning to live in the present moment.
  • Using the imagination, affirmations and visualisations to assist in the healing process.
  • Relaxation and meditation exercises.

We run a Breast Cancer Haven Welcome Day every month
