Is there a walking challenge you’ve always wanted to complete but never quite had the time? Are you fed up of staying at home? Do you crave the great outdoors and want to help those in need? Then this is the New Year's challenge for you!

This January, we hope you will commit to walking yourself fit, to support people affected by breast cancer.

2020 was challenging for us all. People with breast cancer were hit particularly hard, with many having to shield at home and unable to access the support they needed.

Breast Cancer Haven has been here throughout the pandemic, doing all we can to support anyone affected by breast cancer.

To help us to continue providing our services we are challenging you to organise Your Walk, Your Way, and raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Haven. Your walking challenge is entirely up to you. Plan Your Walk, Your Way and fundraise throughout January.

How does it work?

  • Sign-up below to organise Your Walk, Your Way
  • Our fundraising team will help you plan your challenge, with a fundraising pack which is packed full of ideas
  • Walk one day, a weekend, or all month
  • Set a target and set-up a Just Giving page for sponsorship – why not ask friends and family members to sponsor you per mile or km
  • Wear your Breast Cancer Haven t-shirt and complete your challenge (note: unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions we are currently not able to post out any more t-shirts)
  • Why not integrate a fitness app - sharing fitness activity updates on social media gives you more opportunities to talk to your potential sponsors about fundraising. JustGiving now has an easy-to-use integration with Strava. Connecting Strava to JustGiving means you can share your training pics, maps and miles to show how committed you are to your challenge. It’s easy to set-up – with one click your supporters can connect their Strava to JustGiving, and their workouts will get automatically posted to their fundraising page.
  • Get your team involved! You could form a walking army with your colleagues, and set a target distance or amount of steps to complete individually and then add to a final total. You could even ask your company to match fund your fundraising total and raise double the amount
  • Receive a certificate of thanks from the Breast Cancer Haven team

Need some inspiration?

  1. An A-Z walk – walking from landmark to landmark in your area following the alphabet. For example, walking from the Arsenal Stadium to Big Ben, and so on
  2. Monopoly walk in London - walk to each street on the Monopoly board and take photos as you go, why not dress as Monopoly characters for even more fun?
  3. Memory walk – walk in memory of a loved one, to places that were special to them
  4. Number challenge - pick a number that’s important to you and go the distance. If you are turning 50 years old this year, walk 50km in the month of November to January. You could pair your fundraising target with the distance you’d like to walk- 1,000 miles for £1,000 donated for people affected by breast cancer
  5. The ultimate challenge - why not walk the length of the Three Peaks Challenge or Land’s End to John O’Groats, inspired by the UK’s most exciting challenge events
