Reflexology Studies have shown that reflexology can help relieve a range of side-effects caused by breast cancer including anxiety, depression, fatigue, pain and quality of life. It can also help reduce hot flushes, nausea and fatigue, as well as helping tissue healing. The practice involves pressure and massage of the reflex points on the feet and/or hands. We most commonly treat the feet. Reflexology is based on the principle that the body is divided into vertical reflex zones starting at the top of the head and ending at the toes. This idea is similarly found in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine. According to this system every part of the body is represented by a specific reflex point on the foot or hand. It is believed that our whole body is mapped out over these different reflex points and gently pressing on these areas allows the therapist to assess the state of your health. Applying pressure to specific reflex points is thought to start the healing process by stimulating or restoring the flow of energy along channels similar to those used in acupuncture. Reflexology is available at London, Hereford, Leeds, Wessex and Worcester Havens.
