Karen Templeton-Slack

Hi. I’m Karen and as some of you already know and for those who don’t, I’ve now had cancer five times. Thankfully my wonderful children Michelle and Alex and my husband, Michael supported me so bravely and gave me an extremely good reason to keep fighting! My fourth diagnosis was breast cancer which was the hardest time for all of us. I had to have a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy which if any of you have been through it, will understand how gruelling it can be. The cancer had spread into my lymph nodes and I now take cancer drugs (with all their side effects) every day. I may look and act as though nothing is wrong, but I suffer chronic fatigue, bone pain etc. Clearly the whole experience has affected the way I feel about myself and my body image. This is where Breast Cancer Haven is so important and gosh, I wish I had found their support earlier! Anybody who has been affected by breast cancer can’t help but be moved when they step inside the Haven. Their support is second to none on so many levels. If you feel you could support such a worthy cause, please donate if only a £1. It all adds up! Thank you so much! Xx
