Sophie Ruston
I am running the Leeds 10K 2017 as part of Team Haven.

The Breast Cancer Haven Leeds has been a charity very close to my heart for a number of years, and the amazing people who work and visit there daily are an inspiration to everyone. I have enjoyed fundraising for this amazing charity previously and having been photographer at the blossom fashion show I got to see how much this charity helps each and every sufferer on a personal level. All the ladies who performed at the fashion show were totally out of their comfort zone and if they can do something like that whilst suffering a potentially life threatening illness, then I'm sure I can push myself out of my comfort zone too. I'd really like to raise as much money as I possibly can as all the money raised goes towards such an incredible cause, stays right here in Yorkshire and every extra pound is greatly appreciated!

Here is a little more about what goes on at the Breast Cancer Haven:
Breast Cancer Haven is a breast cancer support centre based in Leeds that provides, completely free of charge, a wide range of therapies which help people to deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer.
A diagnosis of breast cancer can be frightening and the treatment gruelling. Surgery, hair loss, radiation, chemotherapy and medication can all take its toll. Medical treatment is necessary but you will need so much more than this.
That is where The Haven come in.
They offer advice on practical things like money and work, help combatting stress, exhaustion and nausea, advice on healthy eating and exercise. And above all, there will always be someone to talk to about your deepest fears.
The trained professional nurses, therapists, counsellors and advisers listen to your individual concerns and give you all the practical, emotional and physical support you need in a tailor-made package.

Support is free of charge and available in our beautiful Breast Cancer Haven centres – which are as far away from a hospital environment as you can imagine.

Please give generously,
Thankyou! Sophie Ruston
