What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a therapy that follows the principle of ‘treating like with like’. An example of this is with watering, smarting eyes, the homeopathic form of onion may be used, as your eyes may smart and water when you cut up an onion. Homeopathic remedies are extremely dilute and are thought to work via the energy system of the body (acupuncture is similar in this regard).

Homeopathy can assist the health of the whole person as well as symptoms. To help find what is most helpful, you may be questioned about your health, family history, preferences and personality traits to obtain as full a picture as possible. Homeopathic remedies are usually prescribed as small pills, tablets or alcohol-based liquids. Homeopathic remedies they are generally regarded as very safe, but we advise you to consult with our homeopath first. For example, the remedy given for bruising, arnica, is considered safe after surgery but not before.

What can homeopathy help with?

Many of our Visitors find homeopathy to be  very helpful and they and our homeopaths tell us that these remedies may speed up scar healing and reduce swelling and bruising post-operatively. They may help with nausea and vomiting, lack of appetite, sore joints, hot flushes, insomnia and lymphoedema. They may also help with the side effects of radiotherapy and emotional distress including anxiety, grief and low mood. Homeopaths can also give remedies that may help strengthen your constitution.

Treatment information

A course of three appointments is recommended. The first appointment takes one hour and this is typically followed by two 30 minute appointments. These are spaced at intervals recommended by the homeopath.

You will need to bring details of any medication, food supplements or other remedies you are taking.

Whilst the appointment is provided free, there is a charge for the homeopathic remedies.

The homeopath will order the homeopathic remedies on your behalf from a homeopathic pharmacy which will be delivered to your home along with an invoice for the remedies. You will need to pay the invoice directly to the homeopathic pharmacy yourself.
